My 2nd Vote!!!

7th of May, 2009 was a bright day brimming with life. There was song in every heart and jump in every step. If the heart was young, the song issued at their lips. But this scenario was only till 9 a.m. morning. It was an important day for all the people of Howrah, West Bengal. It was election to be held in Howrah district.
A day full of tension and to add to this is the horrifying heat, loo and intense humidity. But I found most of the people hardly cared about the humid and hot climate and came out willingly to caste their votes. This was for the 2nd time that I was suppose to vote for my nation and this made me excited. I got ready and stepped out of the house to caste my vote.
On my way to the poll booth, I over heard party people not asking but ordering people to caste their votes to the party they work for. This upset me a lot. I made up my mind to raise my voice against this if someone came and told me to do anything as such. But to heavens grace none did so. I was free to caste my vote and I did so without any interference.
Few thoughts dawned upon me when I left the poll counter was, it would really have been great if this election was done in the winter season or in the evening so that more and more people would have come out of their houses to caste their votes. Through various sources, I got the news that in Mumbai and other states, only 45%-60% people has caste their votes and the reason was due to hot weather!!! If this is the scenario, I personally feel that let the country suffer because of the wrong person leading us. If people take least pains to elect their leader, let the worst person rule us and destroy us. No one should blame the system for poor management. Its for those lazy ducks who don't come out to vote, the country suffers!!!
I did my job and I am very happy.
